Since our founding in 2014, our owner Matt Shanahan has brought a wealth of on-site experience and a professional level of design to every project. As a graduate of the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph, and an associate member of OALA, Matt applies a strict code of ethics to each project and has the knowledge and skillset to create unique designs tailored to your property. We use the latest computer-aided technology to provide you with 2D plans and 3D renderings, bringing your project to life from start to finish. With Matt Shanahan at the helm of all elements of your project from the design, to the execution, your project is guaranteed to be a success.

At SC², we work with a network of engineering firms, surveyors, arborists, professionals, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that every element of your project is executed to the highest standard. We offer a two-year labour warranty on all our projects, and material warranties ranging from 15 to 25 years depending on the products chosen by the client. Our firm is fully insured and registered with the Workplace Safety Insurance Board, providing you with peace of mind throughout the project.

We take pride in our work to ensure your project is completed thoroughly and will be built to last. Following the strict guidelines of our product manufacturers, we always start your project by excavating and properly building and compacting the base material beneath your pavers. By ensuring that all manufacturers’ guidelines are followed, our suppliers can offer their full warranty on the material, ranging from 15 to 25 years.  With a proper base foundation ensuring your project is built to last. We take pride in jobs that have been completed several years ago, still looking like we finished them a week before.

Unilock has recognized the quality of the work done, and has made us a Unilock authorized contractor. This accolade is further supported by Unilock employees hiring us specifically to complete work on their own properties. 

One of the challenges that can arise with installing custom paver designs is the amount of dust created by cutting pavers and concrete. To help alleviate this from happening, we have invested in the latest and best dust suppression technology available to enhance our fleet of saws. We have several saws that cut with water and contain the slurry which dramatically reduces the amount of dust. We are one of the first contractors to own and utilize a saw with a vacuum bag attachment to collect the dust as we cut. Some custom installations with curves and unique shapes do not allow for the usage of such dust suppression systems in which case we implement the use of cutting stations with a filter cloth fence surrounding them. In addition to the implementation of a filter cloth fence, there is always present onsite numerous industrial fans to keep any particulate matter contained. The application of these techniques allows for the vast majority of the dust to collect within the fence and helps prevent concrete dust from blowing around your property. These tools and practices can greatly reduce dust from spreading across your property, as well as your neighbours'. Through the implementation of these methods, it aids in keeping friendly relationships with neighbours allowing the project to move forward at a faster pace and keeping the neighbourhood clean. At Shanahan Consulting and Construction we cater to your household, as well as your neighbours', and the surrounding community. 

In addition to dust suppression, we also have added several electric saws to our fleet. These saws cut stone dramatically quieter than our gas-powered saws. These saws are key in reducing the amount of emissions generated from your project as well as reducing the decibel volume as much as possible. Our clients have found this helpful if they are home throughout the day, as well as their neighbours'.

All of our equipment, trucks, and trailers receive a comprehensive annual safety by dedicated specialized professionals. In addition, all equipment receives a minimum of a daily inspection to ensure projects are completed on time and in a safe manner.

Growing up in Burlington, Jeff developed a passion for construction and a love for nature. After completing his BA in Geography at McMaster University, Jeff pursued a career in the restaurant industry, where he worked at some of Canada's busiest and top-rated restaurants.

Now, alongside Matt and the SC2 family, Jeff has found the perfect balance between his previous experiences and his love for construction and nature.
